This kind of snake has one of the most impressive defensive displays!

It actually took some time to get this snake to stay put. It kept wanting to crawl away rather than "play" with us.

If the scary hissing, body-flattening, and rank smell doesn't work, this kind of snake will flop over and try playing dead. They will even drop open their mouths. Pretty weird!

After we finished taking our pictures, we moved the limp snake off into the shade and left it alone. As soon as it figured out the danger had passed, I'm sure it went on its way.
