Near Boles, Scott Co., Arkansas, USA
This young snake was found in a water-filled tire rut as it hunted for toad tadpoles.
This species looks very similar to the Northern/Midland Watersnake when it is young; except for the belly. As it grows older, the top patterning will eventually become a solid brown or olive. |
